Memorial for Peter Diamondstone

Peter Diamondstone was a founder and long-time candidate for the Liberty Union Party. He ran in every one of Vermont’s two dozen general elections since the party was formed in 1970, including running against Bernie Sanders for US Senate in 2006 and 2012, and against Patrick Leahy for US Senate in 2010 and 2016.

Diamondstone passed away on August 30, 2017. Were he still alive, he would doubtlessly be running against Sanders again this year. I am proud to carry on his legacy as the Liberty Union candidate for US Senate. The tradition of independent socialist politics did not die with him, but will live on in the work of the Liberty Union Party and the Socialist Party USA.

As Diamondstone dedicated nearly 50 years of his life to contesting elections in the name of socialism, it is fitting that we will remember him with a political meeting. The Liberty Union Party and its candidates will be meeting to pay our respects and to reaffirm our dedication to the cause to which he devoted his life.

All our welcome to attend to share in remembrance of Peter, and to see how his memory continues to live on as we carry on the work to which he gave so much of his life.
